From 30 September to 1 October 2019 in Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe, the MEDISAFE Project was presented at the 4th Scientific Conference on Medical Products regulation in Africa (SCoMRA), organized by the AUDA-NEPAD and WHO.
Following the success of the three (3) SCoMRA events, 2019 provides an opportunity to host the 4th SCoMRA. This year is a special one as the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization (AMRH) Initiative also celebrates its 10th year Anniversary leading medicines regulatory systems strengthening and harmonization work in Africa since its inception in 2009.
Various themes were advanced in the previous conferences including; “Building Partnerships for Sustainable Capacity Development on Medicines Regulation in Africa” for the 1st conference. For the 2nd conference, the theme focused on “Regulatory Systems Strengthening for advancing Research, Innovation and Local Pharmaceutical Production in Africa”; while the 3rd conference focused on “Sustaining the Momentum for Regulatory Harmonization in Africa”. This year’s theme is ‘A Decade of regulatory harmonization in Africa: Where are we? Where do we want to go from here?
